Cattolica’s first real-estate investment abroad launched

Cattolica Immobiliare is expanding its business beyond national borders, with an eye towards sustainability. The partnership struck with Dutch investment fund Altera Retail in late 2019 represents an important phase of the Verona-based company's history, as noted by Salvatore Ciccarello, General Manager of Cattolica Immobiliare: “The investment in Altera's retail portfolio is Cattolica’s first transaction abroad and marks the beginning of a pan-European strategy in this business. We want to further improve the level of diversification of our assets by geographical area and sector, in accordance with the key principles of the Group’s 2018-2020 Business Plan.” “We are proud to welcome Cattolica Assicurazioni as our first Italian shareholder,” commented Altera CEO Jaap van der Bijl.
Altera Retail, founded in 2000 and specialised in food and convenience shopping centres, has over €720 million in assets under management. In 2019 the fund was ranked number-one in Holland in the GRESB sustainability index.
