Bedoni: Cattolica leader in agricultural risk protection. Minister Martina visits the Cattolica stand at Fieragricola

“The post-2020 CAP, which European Union governments are discussing, will redesign future agriculture, with greater attention to farmers' income, the environment and the climate. Risk protection will play an important part, along with safeguarding the territory and technological innovation – all fundamental components of a growing industry for the Italian GDP. At Cattolica, we have been working for a long time to ensure safety in the sector, supporting farmers in their insurance choices and investment paths.”
This comment was made by the Chairman of Cattolica Assicurazioni, Paolo Bedoni, when Minister of Agriculture Maurizio Martina paid a visit to the company's stand at Fieragricola, under way in Verona.
“Cattolica Assicurazioni is closely monitoring European and national procedures on agricultural risk management. We are satisfied that the measures we are discussing are in line with the activity Cattolica has already been undertaking for years. We are acting as the forerunner, confirming our position as a leader in protecting farmers. In fact, we are already innovating on three fronts: product, service and technology. We offer insurance products (index policies) based on meteorological indices that allow compensation for crop damage, for example, if affected by low rainfall. We also protect income by covering negative market price fluctuations.
We are also highly innovative in precision farming services offered to farmers, such as pocket farms, the low-cost app that allows constant monitoring of crop health status and the use of satellite maps for assessment purposes. Historically, agriculture forms part of Cattolica Assicurazioni's core business and our level of innovation demonstrates the attention and interest we maintain in this sector.”
