A solidarity fund for parishes in the areas to the east of the province affected by flooding and payment extension on policy premiums for insured parties. These are the first steps Cattolica intends to take to provide tangible aid to the populations of Soave and Monteforte, which have been hit hard by recent flooding. In the presence of the Bishop of Verona, Giuseppe Zenti, the Company’s Chairperson, Paolo Bedoni, and Chief Executive Officer, Giovan Battista Mazzucchelli, gave the announcement last night in Soave during a traditional meeting dedicated to presenting financial statement data to Members.

“The funds,” explained Bedoni, “will be made available to parish communities and vicars through the Fondazione Cattolica. Since they know the region’s needs extremely well, they will be able to directly support families in the most difficulty, so as to as overcome the emergency phase and encourage a return to normality. We must remain close to the population and support it during this difficult time.”

“Our people”, reminded Bishop Zenti, “have the pride of rebuilding themselves with their own hands. But where the individual cannot do this, society intervenes, and where society cannot, the state intervenes. This is the principle of subsidiarity. We must always defend the individual’s respect and identity.” “The Christian faith,” he added, “has great drive in its will to rebuild. These calamitous events are another opportunity to increase solidarity and our sense of community.”

Mazzucchelli underscored the company’s commitment to the region and its insured parties. “Cattolica has decided to extend premium payments for expiring policies held by insured parties that live in the areas affected by flooding. Our agents will guarantee all necessary help, evaluating different situations.”

The next meeting with members is scheduled for Monday 15 November in Pescantina.
