Italy is ready to wave off its National Amputee Football Team as they fly out to Mexico for the upcoming World Championships in San Juan de los Lagos from 27 October to 4 November. They qualified in the Europeans in Turkey in 2017, finishing fifth place. At today’s press conference in Rome, the Chairman of FISPES (Italian Federation of Paralympic and Experimental Sports), Sandrino Porru, and Luca Pancalli, Chairman of the CIP (Italian Paralympic Commitee), alongside Cattolica, a partner of the Federation, officially announced the list of players who will form Italy’s team.

Emanuela Vecchiet, Communications and Institutional Relations Director, attended on behalf of Cattolica Assicurazioni. “Cattolica Assicurazioni has always, but particularly this year, flanked the world of sport and its broadest meaning,” stated Vecchiet. “It is a conscious choice we have made in the conviction that sport is one of the most powerful means of inclusion, integration and social union. A wealth of values in which a company like Cattolica, for identity and tradition, finds inspiration not only in words but through a concrete commitment, as it has done with FISPES. We hope that participation in the upcoming world championships will be an opportunity for sporting success, following on from the great result at the latest Europeans which qualified us for this important competition. But also for the entertainment and growth of all athletes involved.”
