16 December 2019 - Time: 13:10

The building where Cattolica was founded in 1896 will open to the public in February 2020 in the form of a 5-star hotel with the upper upscale brand NH Collection by the NH Hotel Group.

Verona, 16 December 2019. Palazzo Realdi, the historic Veronese property where Cattolica Assicurazioni was founded in 1896, is set to reopen. Purchased in 2018 by real estate fund Euripide, 100% held by Cattolica, and managed by Finanziaria Internazionale SGR, the building is located in the historical centre of Verona. Dating back to the 14th century, the structure has been granted to international chain NH Hotel Group for its first opening in Verona, where we will see a completely refurbished five-star hotel.

A benchmark for Verona’s luxury hotel industry which in the past has welcomed important Italian and international guests, the hotel extends across 6,250 sq. m of indoor space and has 70 rooms – including 14 Junior Suites, 6 Suites and one Presidential Suite – ready to host leisure and business clients. The contemporary and elegant refurbishment has enhanced the frescoes and oil paintings seen inside the suites, and the precious Roman archaeological remains and Medieval wall finishings visible on the building’s ground floor.

The General Director of Cattolica Immobiliare, Salvatore Ciccarello, said: “The hospitality sector has gained increasing relevance in the Cattolica Group’s real estate portfolio and continues to be a source of great satisfaction. The acquisition of Palazzo Realdi, now completely refurbished and under management by a serious and reliable partner, the NH Hotel Group, confirms our desire to develop this business segment, which already sees us in popular city squares for Italian tourism including Rome, Milan and Bologna”.

“For Finint SGR the operation represents a successful enhancement of a 5-star hotel, which could be completed thanks to the decades of experience accrued by our management team in the luxury hospitality sector,” confirmed Mauro Sbroggiò, CEO of Finint Investments SGR. “With this operation, the investment of the funds we manage in 4- and 5-star hotels in Italy’s main cities now exceeds €400 million”.

Marco Gilardi, Operations Director NH Hotel Group Italy & New York, commented: “We are extremely pleased to announce this new project, which we believe is an affirmation of the desire to continue investing in Italy and to promote the territory through extremely high-quality experiences. This new hotel will not only represent a place of exceptional hospitality both in terms of its location and the high-level services typical of our company, but also a place in open dialogue with the city, where the citizen, leisure guest and business client will find their every expectation met and exceeded”.
