2019 Verona Summer Theatre: fully booked edition for the festival supported by Cattolica

The 2019 Verona Summer Theatre season took place with over 40,000 spectators, one of the most appreciated cultural events of the hottest season in the city of the Arena. With an attendance of almost 43,000, the 71st edition of the festival sponsored by the Municipality of Verona, with the support of Cattolica Assicurazioni, recorded many completely sold-out evenings for the prose and dance events. A public success, therefore, that confirms once again the high quality of a festival that loves to be renewed and that, this year, offered a playbill full of titles unpublished but capable of capturing the interest of the people of Verona.
The numbers, presented as part of a press conference by the Artistic Director of the Verona Summer Theatre, Gianpaolo Savorelli, and the Councillor for Cultural Activities, Francesca Briani, told of a festival which included a total of 42,776 shows. Over the span of 37 evenings, Teatro Romano brought together 41,000 people (with an average of 1,109 spectators per evening), while more than 1,700 people attended the performances of the Camploy Theatre. The public turnout registered for the dance performances was significant, with over 18,000 people over fourteen evenings, of which more than 17,000 for the Alice dei Momix performance. But all the titles on the prose calendar were positively received, in particular for the comic duo, Ale and Franz with ““Romeo e Giulietta – nati sotto contraria stella [Romeo and Juliet - born under an unfavourable star” and “Elena [Helen]” by Euripides offered in Verona by the Italian Institute for Ancient Drama. The performances of Verona Jazz and the “Rumors” event were also good.
