Cattolica’s social commitment: the first solidarity Fund of the Group established
Open to employees and citizens, the “Cattolica per la Vita [Cattolica for Life]” Fund will promote new projects of support to the territory every year. The objective of the first initiative is the purchase of an ultrasound scanner for the prenatal diagnosis of congenital heart conditions at the Ospedale della Donna e del Bambino di Borgo Trento [Women and Children’s Hospital of Borgo Trento] (Verona).
Verona, 06 December 2018.“Cattolica per la Vita”, the first Fund of the Cattolica Group of a social nature, was inaugurated today. Established as part of the cultural and social philanthropic organization, Fondazione Italiana per il Dono [Italian Foundation for Donations], the Fund is open to employees and citizens and focuses on making everyone participants in actions of solidarity to improve the well-being of the community with small or large donations. The contributions made to the Fund are aimed at supporting solidarity initiatives in the country identified annually by the Cattolica Executive Committee.
“Atto di Cuore [Act of Heart]”, the first initiative to which the Fund is dedicated, stems from the cooperation with the medical staff of the Borgo Trento Hospital of Verona (Ospedale della Donna e del Bambino) and is dedicated to the purchase of an ultrasound scanner for the prenatal diagnosis of congenital heart conditions. While it is the most frequent form of congenital defect in foetuses, which affects between 3 and 8 newborns out of 1000, few hospitals have machines capable of diagnosing them: in Veneto, for example, there are only 2 centres equipped to conduct in-depth analyses. To promptly diagnose the heart problem increases the possibility of surgery in children who may be born in these centres equipped for newborn heart disease.
