Verona, 22 December 2011. The Chairman of Cattolica Assicurazioni, Paolo Bedoni, was ordained with the title of Commander of the Order of St. Gregory the Great by the Secretary of the Holy State, cardinal Tarcisio Bertone. According to diplomatic protocol, San Gregorio Magno is a first-class Order and is reserved for members of the Catholic faith, in recognition of their service to the Church and for the good example they have demonstrated in the community and Country.

The ceremony took place during an audience at the Vatican last Tuesday, which the State Secretary granted to the Board of Directors of Cattolica.

Cardinal Bertone wished Bedoni, “may the inspiration and faithfulness to the Social Doctrine of the Church shown by Cattolica continue to permeate the precious service of all its workers, may it allow growth and constant care for its members and the land. May it contribute to the attainment of the common good.”

In thanking the State Secretary, Chairman Bedoni revealed that “the closeness of the Church, which we so strongly feel, is a huge comfort to us in our work” and that “also through its Fondazione, Cattolica Assicurazioni aims to continue to its strong dedication to social responsibility towards the community and the land in which it operates.” Whilst revealing how Cattolica has coped to preserve employment in recent years, Bedoni emphasised the dedication of the Group to develop an in-depth training activity for young people on a long-term basis.
